Gems drop game 2 of the series 6-3 to Atwater.

Atwater, California – The Gems and the Aviators faced off in the second game of the series, as the Aviators were able to win the first game last night. Bryndyn Shipquist was the starting pitcher for the Gems, and Drew Stahl took the mound for the Aviators. Atwater got an early lead in the game, as the Gems offense struggled to get anything going.

The Aviators got on the board first, as they scored two runs in the second inning. Alex Pallios  and Tanner Browning got the inning going with a pair of doubles. Jordan Davidson then singled through the left side to bring both runners home.

Bryndyn Shipquist came out at the end of the fourth, as he gave up 2 runs, on 5 hits, as he struck out 5 Aviators hitters. Colton Harris then entered the game in relief to begin the fifth inning.

In the fifth inning, Ryan Frakes hit a one out double, and Victor Tiscareno walked to put two runners on. The Aviators then had three straight RBI singles by Nikko Delgado, Alex Pallos, and Daniel Hermasillo to give them a 5-0 lead. Jackson Martin then hit a sac fly to right field, to bring home Pallios.

In the top of the seventh, Brendan Moore got the Gems going with a single to open the frame. Nolan Baier then drew a walk, followed by Brett Bloomfield’s single to right field to bring home Moore. Nick Ono then hit into a fielder’s choice, bring home Baier and Bloomfield, as Bloomfield hustled all the way from second to score, making the score 6-3.

The Gems had a couple scoring opportunities in the last two innings, as they had two runners on base each inning, but we unable to do any damage. Drew Stahl picked up the win for the Aviators, as he threw 7 innings, allowing 3 runs, on 6 hits, and striking out 7 Gems hitters. The Aviators were able to win this one, with a final score of 6-3.
