Klamath Falls, Oregon – The Gems came into tonight understanding they had missed the playoffs, so tonight’s game against the Bend Bucks was the season finale. Bryndyn Shipquist was the starting pitch tonight,as he got his second start of the season. The Gems had everything clicking tonight, as they cruised to a 10-0 win.
In the second inning, Sammy Silva and Wes Carswell both walked, as Silva came in to score on Collin Cinkovich’s single. Myles Harris then walked to load the bases. Keone McKee singled to score Carswell, and Tim Frith singled down the line to bring home Cinkovich and Harris. A wild pitch scored McKee, and Brian Morley hit a sac fly to bring in Frith. Wes Carswell also hit a sac fly later in the inning, giving the Gems an early 7-0 lead.
In the third inning, Cinkovich tripled to lead off the inning. McKee then singled to bring in Cinkovich, and Brendan Moore single to score McKee.
The Gems were able to add another run in the fifth, on a RBI fielder’s choice by Nick Ono, making the score 10-0.
Shipquist started on the mound for the Gems, as he threw 4 innings, allowing just one hit, and no runs. Matthew Daugherty, Zach Lewandowski, Colton Harris, and Wes Carswell all combined to pitch the final five innings, as they didn’t allow a run on just one hit.
